It’s All in Your Mind

Success is a state of mind. If you want success, start thinking of yourself as a success.” ― Joyce Brothers

We’ve talked about this before, and you know my position on this, it’s all about the attitude.  I do believe that we attract the energy from the universe that we put into it.  So, of course, if we project a positive attitude, then we get positive results, and vice versa.

Now, the last time I checked, no one ever wanted to believe criticism about anything, ever.  Same goes, in my little world.  Except, that attitude won’t work for a writer.   We need to know what we get wrong so we can fix it. So even if the feedback isn’t wasn’t what you were looking for, maybe it’s what you need.

But maybe the question isn’t whether or not we get good feedback, but if we recognize.

I agree, I don’t like to hear negative things, but again, as a writer I don’t have the luxury of blowing off every critic.  Especially if I hear the same thing from more than one person.  The validation of multiple opinions with the same thought process, brings weight to the criticism.

Oh, and I need to know right up front when something is wrong.

I want to know so that I can not only fix the problem, but learn from the mistake, therefore avoiding it in the future.

So, if you’re having problems with critics, or not wanting to believe anyone should ever criticize anything you’ve written, maybe it’s not your grammar or punctuation or even your voice that needs adjustment, perhaps it’s your attitude.
